Modern Foreign Languages

Foreign language learning allows children to deepen their understanding of the world and provides them with the opportunity to learn about other cultures and communicate with others.

The MFL curriculum at St Mary's allows children to gain the necessary skills to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to speakers, both in speech and in writing. Our KS2 curriculum develops the children’s fundamental language learning skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing in French.  This prepares the children for further foreign language teaching at Upper Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3
