Attendance Matters
Absence in Term Time
There are 190 school days in one academic year.
There are also 175 days of weekends and school holidays for families to enjoy together.
90% attendance = ½ day missed every week
90% attendance = 1 day missed every other week
90% attendance = 4 whole weeks of lessons missed in a school year.
90% attendance over 5 years of school = ½ a school year missed!
As a result the school does not authorise family holidays in term time except in exceptional circumstances.
If a child does need to be absent for school for a reason other than sickness absence, please email the school office with details of the absence including dates and attaching any relevant documents (eg. medical appointment letters).
Illness
If your child is ill, please follow the advice from the UK Health Security Agency below. It will provide details of common childhood illnesses and tell you whether they need to miss school and for how long.
If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, please telephone the school office on 01202 874838.
Appointments
We encourage parents and carers to organise medical/dental appointments outside of the school day. Where this is unavoidable, please ensure that you contact the school office with the appointment details.
