Design and Technology overview

Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Our design and technology curriculum at St Mary's aims to inspire a sense of wonder and creativity within children’s designing and making. Skills are taught progressively to ensure that all children are able to learn and practice in order to develop as they move through the school.

There are a variety of essential skills taught across our curriculum that provides the children of St Mary's with the opportunity to design, make and evaluate a product, whilst also building upon their technical knowledge.

Evaluation of past and present design and technology is an integral part of the designing process that allows children to adapt and improve their product and develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
